The auspicious occasion of Sri Hanuman Janmotsava, marking the appearance day of Hanuman Ji, was reverentially observed at both ISKCON Sri Radha Krishna Temple and ISKCON Vaikuntha Hill on 23 April 2024.
Sri Hanuman is a celebrated devotee of Lord Rama and well-known for his spirit of servitude (Dasya-bhakti). He sets a perfect example of pure devotion to the Lord without expectation of any material reward from Him. Devotees derive great inspiration from his complete surrender to the Lord and seek his blessings to progress on the path of bhakti.
The celebrations commenced at 5:30 AM, with a Panchamrita abhisheka to Sri Hanuman. The deity was then specially decorated in Benne (butter) alankara and embellished with dry fruits. Lord Hanuman was also adorned with fresh betel leaves and offered Vade haara (a garland of Vadas).
Hanuman Ji’s glorious devotional service to Lord Rama and his virtuous qualities are meticulously chronicled in the Ramayana. He perfectly utilised his abilities, like strength, courage, wisdom, perseverance and sense-control, to carry out the orders of Lord Rama. Thus, Sri Hanuman’s life serves as a profound lesson for all spiritual aspirants to engage their skills and capabilities in the Supreme Lord’s service and thereby attain perfection.
