The devotees of ISKCON Sri Radha Krishna Temple, Rajajinagar, organised a Maha Pallakki Utsava for the pleasure of Their Lordships on 26 April 2024 as part of the Silver Jubilee Brahmotsava.
Significance of the Maha Pallakki Utsava
The festivities began with the utsava vigrahas of Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishnachandra being decorated in Sri Radha Rajagopala Alankara and carried in a Pallakki procession from the main temple hall to the grand royal Pallakki near the Kalyani to the accompaniment of Harinama Sankirtan and Chamara seva.
True to its name, the Maha Pallakki was long and profusely decorated. Alternating rows of white, red, blue, and purple flowers adorned the top and the inner sanctum around the seat of the Lord. Additionally, hanging flowers with alternating rows of green, white, and red flowers lined its entire length.
After Sri Radha Rajagopala graced the Maha Pallakki, Sri Chanchalapathi Dasa, Senior Vice President, ISKCON Bangalore, welcomed the devotees and spoke about the significance of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, how the Presiding Deities of the temple and Srila Prabhupada have been blessing and guiding innumerable devotees for over 25 years.
He spoke on the Maha Pallakki Utsava, how Lord Sri Krishna is declared the Supreme Lord in the Vedic scriptures, and the importance of serving His pure devotees, quoting Sukadeva Gosvami, the illustrious sage and son of Vedavyasa, Lord Sri Krishna from the Srimad Bhagavatam, Lord Brahma from the Brahma-Samhita, and others.
Procession of the Maha Pallakki Utsava
The servitors enthusiastically carried the Pallakki around the temple precincts, just as a King and Queen are carried by their devoted servants, fanning Them with Chamaras. The procession was accompanied by Harinama Sankirtana, glorifying Their Lordships and the Acharyas. Many other devotees respectfully had darshan and sang and danced joyfully.
The Maha Pallakki Utsava provided memorable experiences for all. The event was a testament to the dedication and love of the devotees to Their Lordships and a joyous celebration of the Silver Jubilee Brahmotsava at ISKCON Sri Radha Krishna Temple.
