Four easy ways to please Krishna

Celebrate Sri Krishna Janmashtami and deepen your relationship with Him by following His important teachings from the Bhagavad-gita.

Lord Krishna holds a special place in the hearts of the devotees. As an embodiment of divine love, He blesses his devotees with spiritual happiness. According to the Bhagavad-gita 9.34, Krishna takes pleasure in devotees who unreservedly offer their hearts and minds to Him. This blog will explain four simple ways to please Lord Krishna and deepen our relationship with Him.

Lord Krishna says,

man-manā bhava mad-bhakto
mad-yājī māṁ namaskuru
mām evaiṣyasi yuktvaivam
ātmānaṁ mat-parāyaṇaḥ

“Engage your mind always in thinking of Me, offer obeisances and worship Me. Being completely absorbed in Me, surely you will come to Me.”

There are four essential instructions Lord Krishna has given in this sloka. Let us understand their importance and how to follow them.

1. The art of always thinking about Lord Krishna

think of krishna

The mind is the most important of all senses – as it is responsible for all our tasks and activities. It is where our ideas and thoughts originate. The mind has three functions: thinking, feeling, and willing. In the past, saints and yogis could easily meditate for long periods. Focusing on one thing for a long time can be challenging in today’s distracted world. In this age, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu recommends thinking of Krishna by chanting the Hare Krishna mahamantra. The mind can remain fixed on the transcendental sound vibration by chanting this mantra attentively. By immersing ourselves in this mantra, we can keep our minds set on the sound vibration, helping us think of Krishna constantly.

2. Offering obeisances to Lord Krishna

offer obeisance

We must offer our pranams to Krishna by bowing down to Him. This act of reverence helps us cultivate a sense of humility and surrender towards the Lord. Hence, we should bow down and offer respect to the Lord in the temple or even at one’s home.

3. Become a devotee of Lord Krishna

become devotee

Lord Krishna wants our sincere devotion. This is just like how a loving father would expect his children to listen to him for their own well-being. By doing so, we avoid becoming falsely independent and bring unnecessary suffering upon ourselves. Just as a father desires a close relationship with his children, Krishna desires our love and surrender. This loving connection safeguards us from the miseries of this world and guarantees our swift return to His eternal kingdom of knowledge and bliss.

4. Worshipping the personal form of Lord Krishna

worship me

There are many temples of Lord Krishna where devotees are engaged in worshipping Him in the form of arca-murti. By regularly visiting these temples and actively participating in the various services offered to the Deity, we can immerse our minds in the thoughts of Krishna.

Lord Krishna assures us that by following these four instructions faithfully,  we can transcend the suffering and hardships of this material world forever and reunite with Him.
