Over 500 years ago, Lord Krishna appeared as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to inaugurate the Sankirtana Movement. He declared that the chanting of His holy names would spread beyond the shores of India, and His commander-in-chief would appear to accomplish this mission.
Five centuries later, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada fulfilled this divine prophecy of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Thus, in 1965, Srila Prabhupada set out on a voyage to America; the rest is history. He established the International Society of Krishna Consciousness at the advanced age of 69 and made the whole world chant Krishna’s names in ecstasy. In the 11 years that followed, he established 108 Krishna temples across the globe and initiated more than 10,000 disciples.
In the prequel film The Empowered Acharya that had released last year, we witnessed the fascinating journey of how Srila Prabhupada met his spiritual master, Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakura. And how he was ordered to preach Krishna Consciousness in the English-speaking world. His story of faith and determination inspired us and moved our hearts.
After several years of persistence, when Srila Prabhupada’s movement finally got some foothold, he suffered a third heart attack. This time, it was a massive one. The condition was so severe that he decided to return to his beloved home, Sri Vrindavan Dham.
