Yes, you read it right. Any virus causes panic, tension, distress, and fear of death in human society. We all have a basic instinct to save ourselves. No one wants to die. Everyone has a fear of death. We see people wearing masks, using sanitizer, avoiding travels to safeguard from the clutches of cruel teethes of death and they name it now Coronavirus. But to escape from death was never possible for any living being.
The great logicians, scientists and anyone we can name tried to save themselves or human society were never successful. Trying to protect from SARS or CORONA or any other disease is a method to save ourselves for a temporary period but then again, the time will tick and we need to go away. The more strictly we are trying against nature’s design, the more bounce back we have to bear.
Living entity keeps on dying and getting new births. CORONAVIRUS causes death and we saw this cruel face in many births. In each birth, we tried to save ourselves, but we were frustrated.
In Chaitanya Charitamrita there is a beautiful verse which says,
kṛṣṇa bhuli’ sei jīva anadi-bahirmukha-ataeva māyā tāre deya samsaradi-duhkha
Forgetting Krishna, the soul is attracted by the illusory energy since time immemorial, which gives him innumerable miseries in the material world.
Actually, our fear is not from CORONA, our fear is
“I do not want to leave this world”, “What will happen to my family, my business, my followers, my popularity”.
Whenever human society, becomes too much degraded and boasts of advancement, the departmental head of punishment, Maya, becomes active and gives a tight slap. It says,
uttiṣṭhata jāgrata prāpya varān nibodhata
Wake up and take advantage of the human form of life.
Because we are sleeping forgetting our real home “Krishna Loka”, without any disease, death or old age.
This world is designed to be full of anxieties, as confirmed in Gita “…Dukhalayam, Asashwatam…” These diseases will keep coming and we, if don’t reclaim our original home, will keep struggling to onslaught these temporary problems of life, one by one and lead in frustration ultimately.
The merciful Lord, Sri Krishna, keeps reminding, using these alarming situations, to come to him and trust his words,
Sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śharaṇaṁ vraja
ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣhayiṣhyāmi mā śhuchaḥ
Srila Prabhupada writes in a commentary,
He should simply surrender to Krishna. That surrender will save him from all kinds of sinful reactions, for the Lord personally promises to protect him.
So, confidently we should surrender unto Him and be ready to come out of this material world and reach Goloka Vrindavan, the place where no viruses can attack.
