ISKCON Bangalore celebrated Sri Gaura Purnima, 538th auspicious appearance day of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu at ISKCON Radha Krishna Temple and ISKCON Vaikuntha Hill on 25 March 2024. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is the incarnation of Lord Sri Krishna in the role of a devotee for this Kali-yuga. Gaura Purnima is also known as the Phalguni Purnima tithi in the Vedic calendar.
The celebrations began with a Pallakki procession for Utsava Vigrahas of the Lord around the temple premises followed by an elaborate Abhisheka with panchagavya, panchamrita and fruit juices for Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga amidst devotional bhajans and kirtans and the chanting of Vedic mantras. This was followed by a video presentation on the purpose of appearance of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
The festivities concluded with a Shayana Arati accompanied by a devotional song, Sri Sachi Tanayashtakam and a grand Pallakki Utsava accompanied by ecstatic kirtans. Devotees also observed fasting till moonrise as part of their devotional austerities to please the Lord and advance spiritually.
The celebrations of Sri Gaura Purnima all over the world show the continued influence and inspiration Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu provides for humanity at large by His mission to spread the yuga-dharma of Harinama Sankirtana to every town and village of the world.
