Chida Dahi Utsav

Raghunatha Dasa Goswami, following the order of Nityananda Prabhu, observed a festival in Panihati village, by distributing chipped rice mixed with yogurt. This came to be known as Panihati Chida-dahi festival.

At ISKCON Bangalore, the utsava deities of Sri Nitai Gauranga are bathed in the temple pond as part of the abhisheka during the festival. Later they are taken on a decorated barge on the waters of the pond.

Devotees also enact the story of Raghunatha Dasa’s surrender to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and the original festival at Panihati.
